Medals Presented to US Merchant Marines. The World War II Victory Medal commemorates military service during World War II and is awarded to any member of the United States military, including members of the armed forces of the Government of the Philippine Islands.
CRITERIA
This medal is awarded for any active duty or Reserve service period between Dec. 7, 1941, and Dec. 31, 1946.
MEDAL DESCRIPTION
The medal is 1.25 inches in diameter, bearing in front the figure of liberation holding a broken sword in the dawn.
RIBBON DESCRIPTION
The ribbon is predominantly red with wide rainbow borders.
